Girl Code is a game that teaches basic coding concepts to girls, and specifically, black girls. I have designed this project to resonate with the young black girls that are often overlooked in the fields of STEM due to preconceived notions rooted in racists pasts. This game allows the user to choose a character that they can resonate with that encourages them to complete a series of coding challenges throughout the game. My goal was to make this experience educational, fun, and rewarding in an effort to change the face of STEM today.
For my beta build, I have added in characters, help pages, and sound. The characters I drew using an online software, and attached the image to a button that will lead the user through a series of challenges. During these challenges, the user can access the help page for more clarification on the concept they are learning.
I have attached a few of the additions I made to my Beta Build.
